Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a newcomer to Democratic politics who surprisingly won a seat in Congress representing New York,

For one, she learned she doesn’t have the authority to threaten the son of the president with subpoenas.

Then she also found her knowledge of government lacking after referencing the “three chambers of government … the presidency, the Senate and the House.”

Now a possible candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 is learning something new about the U.S. government.

Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., has been told that the Constitution provides the same rights to everyone.

“Rights are rights and they are very specific and inherent,” explained

Harris had said: “From women’s rights to LGBTQ rights, to Indigenous rights, to disability rights, to immigrant rights, there’s so much work still left to be done.”

Twitchy scolded: “When will Democrats figure out that our rights as human beings are inherent, and no amount of labeling or segregating us into neat little voter demographic buckets will change that? We get it, they need their base to believe that they are fighting for their rights, but at the end of the day, that’s just true.”

The commentary continued: “If you want to fight for all people just fight for all people, don’t segregate them into different groups. There’s no need or reason to do that because all of our rights are the same. There are no women’s rights, or immigrant rights, or LGBTQ rights … rights are rights and they are very specific and inherent.”

Twitter user us395 explained further: “We all have the same rights. They are listed, 1-10, in a document you may not be familiar with.”

Another wrote: “And VETERAN’s rights? Rights for our enlistment contracts WITH AMERICA to be honored. Pre 1980 promises restored, barriers to be removed to ‘qualify’ and FULLY FUNDED LIKE A CONGRSS MEMBER’s benefits.”

Twitchy said: “See, this is what happens when you start pretending certain groups have special rights, then you have other groups who feel they are ignored or that their specific rights are being trampled on. And nothing gets done.”

Ocasio-Cortez stepped in it just recently with:

“I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up. Please, keep it coming Jr. – it’s definitely a ‘very, very large brain’ idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month. Have fun!”

After a backlash, she turned a 180:

“For the GOP crying that this is a ‘threat’ – I don’t have power to subpoena anybody. Congress as a body, GOP included, has the power. No indiv member can issue a subpoena unless they are a Chair (which, as a freshman, I can assure you I will not be). Also must be under purview.”
